Adult ADHD Assessments

The assessment process is designed to give you real insight into how your brain works, in a space that's respectful of your experience and without judgment. I approach adult ADHD assessments with curiosity, not a checklist. Each assessment is shaped around your specific history and how you've experienced the world, rather than following a generic template.

Coastal pathway through sand dunes representing the journey toward understanding and clarity through adult ADHD assessment at MindSpectrum Psychology

Many adults may seek an ADHD assessment after years of coping, compensating, and questioning themselves. At MindSpectrum Psychology, ADHD assessments are conducted with an understanding of how ADHD can present subtly, especially in adults who have learned to mask or internalise their difficulties. The assessments are designed to recognise internalised, high-masking, and late-identified presentations, the kind that don't always match the textbook or stereotypical picture.

Considering if an assessment is right for you?

This service might be A GOOD FIT if you:

Built entire systems (reminders, routines, lists) to function like everyone else seems to naturally.

Experience chronic stress, fatigue, or burnout without a clear explanation.

Have wondered whether ADHD could explain long-standing patterns in your life.

Feel constantly overwhelmed, distracted, or forgetful

Work twice as hard as everyone else just to look like you're keeping up.

Are interested in gaining a better understanding of yourself and your experiences.

What to expect

Your assessment is thorough and is built around you. The process usually looks like this:

Initial Consultation

We start with a relaxed, collaborative conversation. I want to understand your history, your current concerns, and what's brought you here. This discussion will help to determine whether a comprehensive ADHD assessment is appropriate and guide us in tailoring the process to your specific needs.

Questionnaires

After the first session, I'll send you standardised questionnaires to complete in your own time. These provide a fuller picture of your strengths and challenges. Where useful, a family member, partner, or someone who knows you well may also be invited to complete questionnaires and share their observations to help build a more complete developmental history.

Assessment Appointment

This is a space to talk through your strengths, your coping strategies, and what your internal experience actually feels like, without judgment. A structured interview (DIVA-5) is used to assess ADHD symptoms across both childhood and adulthood.

Feedback Session

I'll guide you through the findings, discuss any applicable diagnoses, and outline recommendations and next steps. This session aims to provide you with a clear, grounded understanding of the results.

Report or Letter

You'll receive a comprehensive diagnostic report or summary letter outlining the findings and offering professional recommendations. It's written to provide a clear overview of your neurotype, with specific, practical suggestions for support and adjustments.

The entire assessment process usually spans 3 to 5 appointments, with each session lasting approximately 60 to 90 minutes. My goal is to ensure that the process is manageable, supportive, and provides meaningful insights at every stage.
